Sunday Funday...

Today Bosley is getting his first haircut! That is right! A haircut for the little man! I cannot believe it is time...although he is over 13 months old and Stella was wearing barrettes in her hair by now, so I suppose it is past time!

After this milestone, he will immediately hit another by attending his first birthday party! He is napping right now to prepare for all the excitement. Mom should be napping too, but there are too many things to do in order to prepare for the week - and the evening of new TV!

Stella is also going to have a good day...she is anticipating her little blanket, "Red," coming home from needed repairs. Thanks, Grandma! The poor thing was starting to unravel...and that was going to make Stella unravel as well. After that, we are going to order a new T-shirt - her FAVORITE shirt - a new Full of Awesome shirt. Check it out! http://pigtailpals.com/fullofawesome.html You can get 20% off your order through the end of September - just use the code school13!

Hope you are all having a fantastic Sunday too!

Recess...remember to take the break

Okay...so clearly the dating through the alphabet adventure has been a complete failure this year. Here it is, August 11th, and I think I have been able to post about four or five dates. Some of this might be because I tried to start something when my husband and I had just had the baby in August. We had some crazy things going on with the family in the spring. Then, we both decided to get new jobs! Yikes!

So...since dating hasn't been the best way to find a place for a break, I am trying to appreciate some other things! My strange summer did give me over TWO months off with the kids, and it change how I think about spending time with them. It changed how I come home from work. It changed my attitude about work and family balance. More on that later...the point is: I feel like I am able to divide the two more effectively. We will see if that holds true with this new job. :)

I also started as a Rodan and Fields Skincare Consultant. Strange to take on more work, but I can do this however, I want to. I can put in as little or as much time. The surprising thing? Remembering that I have always wanted to be a business owner. Now I am! So...I have decided I want to build the business and I think in some ways this is a "break" for me because it is fun. I love the products, and it is forcing me outside my comfort zone! I needed that!

So I ask two things of you all as you read this blog...
1) Like my facebook page to keep up with the super cool things Rodan and Fields will be doing in the next few months.

2) Go to my business page and take the Solutions Tool. Email yourself the results and then contact me to find out more about purchasing products that will make your skin the best skin you have ever had. Just go to Customize Your Skin Routine to start the quiz!

Thanks...I have a big week coming up! Back to school with students arriving on Wednesday! When do your kids go back to school?

The "D" Date - Don't Go!

Date Challenge: Date must occur on a weekday!

Date Title: Don't Go!

Upon glancing at the information so far, one might think - weird. Yes, I suppose it is a little strange. This date happened at the last minute. It was unexpected in many ways. My husband and I found out his brother and our sister-in-law might move to Nashville. Then, really, we found out it was probably a done deal.

In an effort to remind them of what they would be leaving (I mean we are awesome!), we decided to take them out to dinner and attempt to convince them they needed to stay here in Kansas City. This date turn out a bit weird. So, we went to Mr. Sushi, their favorite place to eat here in the area, and we talked about the decision, that seemed to suddenly come down.

What did we learn? Well, mostly, that they were going back to Nashville, and my grand plan that included my sister-in-law watching my kids and our kids going to grade school together, was just that...my plan. No one elses.

At the end of the day, while this was a date, it really didn't end up very "date-like" since it concluded with realizing my brother and sister-in-law (along with my niece and nephew) would soon reside in the Nashville area instead of the Lee's Summit area.

There was a great sadness. :(

ELEVEN Months old...

My little boy is 11 months old. If that doesn't qualify as a moment of recess, I don't know what does. He is amazing and I cannot believe he is already so old. He is so full of energy, and soon he will be going to daycare. No Aunt Kendra watching him, but at least he will be in the same place as his sister.

Isn't he adorable? Anyway...one month until he is one, and I am just having a moment. Hope you all enjoy it! :)

A New Adventure

I am aware that I take on too much. Then I find myself thinking...what the heck? However, this is a new challenge that will push me outside my comfort zone and allow me to meet lots of new people. What is it? I started my own business through Rodan and Fields skincare.

I have struggled with my own skin for years (many more than I care to admit) and this has helped!

So...while you might be far, far from my home and attending my launch party, you can still be a part of my business launch. What is even cooler than that? Well, 50% of all the money I make from now until Sunday night will go to Child Abuse Prevention Association!

Check it out!
